Colleague: How to Register a Student for a Course

Faculty can register students for courses using the Registration (RGN) form. However, overrides to capacity or prerequisites and any late registration (after the course has begun) must be approved by academic coordinators or department chairs.

This knowledge article demonstrates how to access and register a student for a course using the RGN form.


Step 1

After logging into Colleague Production and agreeing to the Disclosure of Information, click the Form Search icon, if necessary then type RGN and press Enter or click Search.

Type name, ID number or SSN of student then click OK.  Best practice: partial name lookup.  For example, owllink, bar.

Step 3

If there are multiple records, select the desired record by double-clicking the row or clicking the row then clicking Open.

Step 4

Type the course number or name in the Section Name and Title field then press Enter.

Step 5

The Search Results Panel displays. If necessary, click the Next Page or Last Page button to locate the desired term, days and time.

Step 6

Select the desired course by double-clicking the row or clicking the row then clicking Open.

Click Save.

Click Update.

Click Finish to complete the process or look up another student.
