Description

Copyleaks is an online platform that scans, detects, and analyzes text for plagiarism, paraphrasing, and AI-generated content.

When to use:

• Faculty:
  • Grading and Reviewing Assignments in Canvas to evaluate student integrity and spot AI text.
  • Before Publishing Content to scan writing to ensure complete uniqueness and avoid copyright issues.
• Students (if instructor has structured the assignments like this):
  • Checking Paraphrased Text for rewritten external sources to confirm the phrasing is sufficiently distinct from the original text.
  • Before Submitting Papers/Projects/Presentations/... prior to final submission, to fix citation errors or unintentional matching.

Training Delivery Method(s)

• Online Synchronous (Zoom/Teams)
  • Twice a month, Copyleaks hosts two webinar sessions to train users across all Learning Management Systems on how to utilize Copyleaks' tools and features. Check out the vendor site to register for upcoming webinars.  During the webinar you will learn the following:

1. Assignment Creation 
2. How to interpret our reports
3. The Copyleaks' Analytics Dashboard
4. Copyleaks Assessment tool
5. The Teacher Scan Tool plus, each session will end with the Q&A with the host.

• In-house Training (Virtual or In-person)
  • Areas or departments who wish to have a training session can email oeprepcoordinator@pgcc.edu to schedule a virtual or in-person training session for your team (must give at least 2 weeks advanced notice)

How to access Copyleaks?

Students - After you submit your work, it is often automatically submitted to Copyleaks. If this is the case, after a few minutes, you will see a colored box on the right side of your assignment in the gradebook (see the image below). Click on your assignment title to check your Copyleaks report.  Also, watch the following video to learn more about Interpreting the Copyleaks similarity report.  Note:  The color of the icon can be blue (= good) and it still has 100% AI (bad). The initial icon only represents the matching score.
