How to Use the Spam Digest Service

Spam Digest is a platform service that provides filtering of possible spam and phishing email messages.  It also allows users the ability to create a 'safe list' or 'block list' email senders and streamline their mailbox messages.  This service is provided for the College community who has an email account with the Prince Georges Community College.  Users will get a message from 'PGCC Spam Digest' on their mailbox that displays a list of possible emails for them to either allow or block the sender from the current and future messages.  Users are encouraged to be vigilant in protecting their email accounts from phishing attacks that will try to gain access and possible spread of malware to computer devices.

1.  When users get an email notification from 'PGCC SPAM Digest', they will have the option to either choose the Block Sender or Release and Allow Sender regarding the specific email sender.  Not taking any action will keep all emails sent from the same sending entity in quarantine.  In the same screen, the user can click on Manage My Account to access the Spam Digest portal and check their email lists and update their settings.  Alternatively, type 'Spam Digest' under Search will bring up the list of email items that were quarantined as shown below.

2.  Once at the portal, at the bottom left menu, click on Quarantine to see the list of quarantined emails categorized as either 'Low Priority Mail' or 'Spam'.  Choose a sender, at the top menu, select Release and Allow Sender, Block Sender, Delete, or Allow Sender.

Spam Digest provides another layer in protecting user accounts and preventing outside attacks from gaining access to College systems and the spread of malware through their devices.  If you suspect you are the target of a phishing attack, please do not respond to any email or text message requesting information or work unless you can verify the sender:

On your email:  Do not open attachments or click on links.  Immediately report the incident to ETSecurity@pgcc.edu.

On your phone:  Do not respond to the text messages or communicate with the sender, and do not provide the sender with any personal or financial information.  Avoid clicking on links or attachments included in the text, as doing so may result in malware or a virus being loaded on the recipient’s phone.  Delete the message immediately and if possible, block the sender.
