Accessing and Utilizing the Canvas Course Template

 

  1. Click the Modules link in the course navigation menu of any course from Summer 2023 or later

 

  1. In the module titled Instructor Module (Do Not Publish), you will find three pages dedicated to utilizing various features of the template

 

  • Template: Introduction & How-to Customize – identifies  content items that were altered by the template revision and links to the Work Smarter Not Harder article, which provides tips on course setup tasks such as setting your course navigation, running the link validator, and more
  • Template: Icons, Banners, & Buttons Customization Options – identifies the new visual content introduced by the template revision and links to articles on how to use them
  • Template: Sample Module Structure – provides sample content headers that can be copy-pasted for consistent formatting amongst course pages, discussions, assignments, and quizzes
