Hypothesis Overview

Body

Description

Hypothesis is a digital annotation tool that allows users to highlight text, add notes, and engage in discussions directly within websites, PDFs, and videos. Rather than taking notes separately, students, instructors, and colleagues can interact with reading materials collaboratively by sharing ideas, asking questions, and responding to one another’s annotations.

When to Use:

  • Social Reading: Students highlight challenging passages, ask questions, and respond to classmates’ comments, creating a collaborative reading experience.
  • Reading Accountability: Instructors can monitor students’ annotations and comments to encourage active engagement with assigned readings.
  • Peer Review: Students can annotate PDF drafts and provide feedback on grammar, organization, content, and overall structure.
  • Guided Reading: Instructors can add prompts, questions, hints, and explanations to help students navigate complex readings.

Training Delivery Method(s)

  • Online Synchronous (Zoom)
    • Hypothesis offers webinars periodically. Check out the vendor site to register for upcoming events or access recordings of recently completed webinars.
