Student Guide: Accessing Microsoft OneDrive from Your PGCC Email Account

Introduction

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to access Microsoft OneDrive through your PGCC student email account. OneDrive allows you to store, organize, and share your files securely.

Step 1: Open a Web Browser

  • Launch Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to the Prince George’s Community College website at www.pgcc.edu and navigate to myPGCC Portal (located on the top horizontal menu)
  • From the welcome page, and click on Students portal link to access your student portal page.

Step 2: Sign in to Your PGCC Email

From your Dashboard, under Widgets, locate My Email widget (if not listed on the top, you may have to scroll down to see it).

(NOTE: to move the My Email widget closer to the top, click on the widget title until the

Double arrows crossed overappears, continue holding while dragging the selected widget to the new location, then let go.)

  • In the “My Email” section, if you have not connected your Microsoft account you need to click Connect Account for easy access to your emails and/or files. Otherwise, click See All Emails. This will prompt you to login by entering your PGCC student email address (e.g., yourusername@students.pgcc.edu).
  • Enter your password (which may differ from your PGCC network login) and click Sign In.
  • Once you have successfully logged in, your Outlook email will open providing you access to your emails and additional Apps, including OneDrive.
  • If prompted, complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process for security.

 

Step 3: Access OneDrive from Your Email

  • Once logged into Outlook (Email), locate the App Launcher (the grid of nine dots in the top-left corner).
  • Click on the App Launcher to open the menu, Select OneDrive from the list of available Microsoft 365 apps.

Step 4: Navigating OneDrive

Uploading Files

  • Click on the Add new button at the top.
  • Select “Files upload” or “Folder upload”, then choose the files/folders you want to upload.

Creating a New Document

  • Click Add new and select the desired Microsoft application to create a new file, or Folder to create a new folder.

Sharing Files with Others

  • Right-click on a file or select the ... (3 dots icon) to the right of the file and select “Share”.

  • Enter the recipient’s full PGCC email address (e.g., a professor or classmate).
  • Choose whether they can Edit or View Only the document.
    Options under share: Can edit, Can review, Can view, Can't download
  • Click “Send” to share.  NOTE:  All recepients will get an email notification regarding the file being shared.

 

Step 5: Accessing Files from Anywhere

  • You can access your OneDrive files from any device by logging in to onedrive.com with your PGCC email.
  • Install the OneDrive mobile app on your phone or tablet for easy access.

 

Step 6: Sign Out for Security

  • When finished, click on your profile icon (top-right corner).
  • Select “Logout” to log out from your email and OneDrive securely.
