A URL Shortcut is a website shortcut that allows you to quickly reach your favorite websites by double-clicking an icon on your Windows desktop.
Below are the steps how to create URL Shortcut on the Desktop:
Step 1.
Right-click on the desktop.
Step 2.
Click New --> Shortcut

Step 3.
Copy the URL link and paste it to the “Type the location of the item:” field. ( Example: http://cnn.com As shown in the picture)

Step 4.
Click Next to continue

Step 5.
Type a name for this shortcut Example: Type CNN

Step 6. Click Finish
