Prince George's Community College (PGCC) and Howard Community College (HCC) have long partnered to provide students at both schools shared learning opportunities at the Laurel College Center (LCC). Over the past several years, this partnership has required participating students to navigate between two separate accounts to access their courses. But thanks to PGCC’s recent transition to the Canvas LMS, we now have the opportunity to take advantage of Canvas’s trust feature which simplifies course access. Beginning May 30, 2023, students enrolled at either school will seamlessly access their PGCC- and HCC-hosted courses within a single Canvas account.
Step 1
Log into your Canvas account from your school’s homepage using your current credentials
Step 2
Locate your courses on the Dashboard, regardless of which school is hosting the course. If you have switched your Dashboard from Card View to either List or Recent Activity View, you can locate your courses by clicking the Courses tab in the global navigation menu.
Note: Due to the seamless nature of the trust feature, there is no way to distinguish a PGCC-hosted course from an HCC-hosted course on the Dashboard
Step 3
Click on a desired course title to access the course content.
Note: Be mindful that PGCC and HCC use different course names and course codes to reference the same course.
In addition to eliminating the need for two separate accounts, the Canvas trust feature also simplifies the support workflow. To receive technical support regardless of which school is hosting the course, students should click on the Help icon at the bottom of the global navigation menu and select their desired contact method.
