Note: You must be in the course you wish to copy into (destination) for this process. In the case of Summer 2025 courses, you want to be in the Summer 2025 course site and know the name of the course you want to import from.
- On the course “Home” page of the course you wish to copy into, choose “Import Existing Content”

Upon clicking “Import Existing Content” a display box will appear. It will contain a link to this knowledge article.

On the Import Content page, you should see the PGCC Custom Template as all newly created courses should have this template as a default.

Next, select “Copy a Canvas Course” as the content type

- Next, type the name of the course you wish to import content from in the search box.

- Choose “Select specific content”

- Mark the “Adjust events and due dates” checkbox. You will be given the option to Shift dates or Remove dates. It is suggested that you check the Remove dates option.

- Next, click the “+ Add to Import Queue” button to proceed.

- You will see your import listed under the "Content imports" area of the Import Content Page. To choose which parts of your source course will be copied, click the "Select Content" button to the far right of the job.

- In the "Select Content for Import" pop-up window that appears, check everything EXCEPT “Course Settings”, “Syllabus Body”, “Pages”, “Announcements”, and “Files”
NOTE: Please do not check the "Syllabus Body" option, as this will carry over content from the old syllabus. Since we now use Simple Syllabus, instructors will create their syllabi from scratch for each new semester.

- Then click on the arrow to the left of Modules to expand the group and uncheck “Instructor Module (Do Not Publish)” and “Start Here" options.

- Click the "Select Content" button to proceed.

- The process will begin and your selected course materials will be imported. Depending on how large the content is, this process may take several minutes to complete. You can view the progress under the "Content imports" section of the Import Content page.

- Once the import has completed, you will see it denoted under status.

PLEASE NOTE: Certain tasks such as editing the homepage, uploading supplemental files, configuring due dates and gradebook settings, etc. will require additional attention.
