Adobe Acrobat XI Pro: How to Encrypt a File

It is a good idea to secure a file that contains sensitive information.  This helps prevents that information from falling in the hands of those with bad intentions.

This knowledge article demonstrates how to encrypt an Adobe Acrobat XI Pro file.

Step 1

Access the Tools pane in Adobe Acrobat Pro by opening the file and clicking the Tools option.

Select the Protection option from the Tools pane.

Step 3

Select the down arrow within the Encrypt icon, and then select the option Encrypt with Password.

Step 4

Select the Do not show this message again check box, and then click Yes.

Select the Require a password to open the document check box, enter a password, and then click OK.
