The purpose of this training plan is to equip faculty with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively use Copyleaks within Canvas to support academic integrity and promote original student work. The training will help faculty understand Copyleaks’ plagiarism and AI detection features, create and manage assignments, interpret similarity reports, and incorporate the tool into their grading and assessment practices.

It will also provide faculty with resources and best practices to confidently use Copyleaks throughout the academic year.

Goals

• Promote Academic Integrity and Originality
  Develop an understanding of how Copyleaks can support academic integrity, encourage original student work, and help faculty identify potential concerns.
• Understand Copyleaks Detection Capabilities
  Gain knowledge of how Copyleaks identifies similarities, non-original content, and AI-generated content in student submissions.
• Configure Copyleaks for Canvas Assignments
  Build the skills needed to configure appropriate Copyleaks settings before students submit assignments in Canvas.
• Conduct and Manage Submission Scans
  Develop proficiency in using Copyleaks to scan student work through Canvas Assignments and other available submission methods, including Scan Documents and Direct Submit.
• Interpret Similarity and AI Detection Reports
  Learn how to access, review, and interpret Copyleaks reports to identify potential academic integrity concerns while recognizing the importance of faculty judgment and context.
• Apply Fair and Consistent Academic Integrity Practices
  Use Copyleaks effectively and consistently as part of fair assessment practices while supporting student learning and maintaining academic integrity.
• Utilize Copyleaks Support Resources
  Become familiar with Copyleaks Help Center resources, tutorials, guides, and troubleshooting information to support continued use of the platform.
• Respond to Potential Academic Integrity Violations
  Develop an understanding of appropriate steps for addressing suspected academic integrity violations, including reviewing evidence, documenting concerns, and following institutional policies and procedures.

Objectives 

By the end of the training, faculty will be able to:

• Explain how Copyleaks can support academic integrity and promote originality in student work.
• Describe how Copyleaks detects non-original and AI generated content
• Configure Copyleaks settings prior to student submissions to scan student work in Canvas assignments
• Use Copyleaks to scan students’ work after it has been submitted (Scan Documents or Direct Submit)
• Access and interpret similarity reports to determine academic integrity.
• Apply best practices for using Copyleaks to promote academic integrity while maintaining fair and consistent assessment practices.
• Locate and use Copyleaks support resources, including the Help Center, tutorials, guides, and troubleshooting information, for ongoing assistance.
• Addressing cases of academic integrity violations.

  • Twice a month, Copyleaks hosts two webinar sessions to train users across all Learning Management Systems on how to utilize Copyleaks' tools and features. Check out the vendor site to register for upcoming webinars.  During the webinar you will learn the following:

1. Assignment Creation 
2. How to interpret our reports
3. The Copyleaks' Analytics Dashboard
4. Copyleaks Assessment tool
5. The Teacher Scan Tool plus, each session will end with the Q&A with the host.
