The purpose of this training plan is to provide PGCC faculty and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively use refer Brainfuse Online Tutoring to support students’ academic success. The training will familiarize faculty and staff with Brainfuse’s tutoring services and resources, demonstrate how to access and navigate the Faculty Dashboard through Canvas, and explain how to assign and monitor tutoring tasks. Faculty will also learn how to ensure students have access to Brainfuse and how to incorporate its tutoring and writing support into their courses.
Goals
- Understand Brainfuse Services - Help faculty and staff understand the tutoring, writing assistance, study tools, and academic support services available to PGCC students through Brainfuse.
- Access Brainfuse Through Canvas - Enable faculty to access Brainfuse from their Canvas courses and navigate the Faculty Dashboard effectively.
- Assign Tutoring Tasks - Equip faculty with the knowledge to assign appropriate Live Tutoring and Writing Lab tasks to students based on their academic needs.
- Monitor Student Tutoring Activities - Enable faculty to monitor assigned tasks, review student and tutor activity, and follow student progress within Brainfuse.
- Promote Student Use of Brainfuse - Help faculty identify opportunities to incorporate Brainfuse as an additional academic support resource and encourage students to use its services.
- Ensure Student Access - Help faculty verify that the Brainfuse Online Tutoring link is visible in their Canvas course navigation so students can access the service.
Objectives
By the end of the training, faculty will be able to:
- Describe the key Brainfuse services and resources available to PGCC students, including live tutoring, Writing Lab support, and academic study tools.
- Access and navigate Brainfuse through a Canvas course and identify the primary features of the Faculty Dashboard.
- Identify appropriate opportunities to use Brainfuse to support students’ academic needs and success.
- Create and assign Live Tutoring and Writing Lab tasks to students through Brainfuse.
- Explain the student task-assignment process, including how students receive and access assigned tutoring tasks.
- Monitor and review student progress and activity associated with assigned Brainfuse tutoring tasks.
- Verify and maintain the visibility of the Brainfuse Online Tutoring link in the Canvas course navigation menu.
- Promote Brainfuse effectively by directing students to appropriate tutoring services and resources available through Canvas and The Learning Commons.
