Ally for Canvas Training Plan

The purpose of this plan is to help instructors improve the accessibility of course materials by automatically evaluating content, providing accessibility scores, step-by-step remediation guidance, and generating alternative formats such as HTML, audio, ePub, and electronic Braille for students using Ally.  This training plan will help instructors learn to use the tool effectively in their course and help students access the course contents using alternative formats.

Goals

• Increase awareness of digital accessibility and the role Anthology Ally plays in supporting accessible course content.
• Build confidence in understanding and interpreting Ally accessibility scores and feedback.
• Promote inclusive teaching practices by using Ally’s alternative formats and accessibility features.
• Improve course accessibility by identifying and addressing common accessibility issues.
• Encourage continuous improvement using Ally reports, instructor resources, FAQs, and microlearning materials.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

• Explain how Anthology Ally supports digital accessibility and inclusive learning.
• Interpret Ally accessibility scores and identify areas that need improvement.
• Use Ally’s alternative formats to provide students with more flexible ways to access course content.
• Identify and fix common accessibility issues using Ally’s instructor feedback and remediation guidance.
• Use the Course Accessibility Report to identify and prioritize accessibility improvements.
• Apply Ally recommendations to improve the accessibility of documents, images, PDFs, headings, links, and other course materials.
• Locate Ally instructor resources, FAQs, and microlearning videos for ongoing support.

• Ally for LMS Help Center provides user guides, setup instructions, and support resources for students, instructors, and administrators using Ally within a learning management system.  

Search Resources by User Role:

Students: Find instructions on downloading alternative formats like audio, ePub, electronic braille, and translated versions.

Instructors: Learn how to read accessibility scores, fix content issues, and use step-by-step guidance.

Administrators: Access integration steps and pull institutional accessibility reports.
